¡Adios Lanzarote!

The final day of our trip was a relaxing one, especially after all of the running and walking we did on Ironman day!

Instead, it was time to relax and top up our tans before getting our flight back to London this morning.

Whilst the Ironman are now over at the bar having some well earned drinks, we lounged by the pool and made the most of the sunshine. I've heard the UK is wet and miserable, so I'm savouring every moment I have in the sun!

We have been staying at the Club Oceano apartments in Puerto Del Carmen. I can remember when we first stayed here back in 2000, when again there was 20 or so of us out here for Ironman number 1.
Throughout the years, the apartments have gone through updates and new staff, but some of the original staff are still here and are always welcoming with open arms when we arrive.

For a quick break away for something like this, it is perfect.

As the sun disappeared behind the buildings, we gathered at the bar for our final drinks before heading out to dinner.

Time for those pose by the pool pictures!

Gareths outfit is from Topman here and here.
Amy is rocking a skirt from Zara and top from Topshop (similar here).
My shorts are from Topman, White Polo from Jack Wills, and Watch from Sekonda.

Although Maggie insisted Amy budged so she could have a photo with us.

Can you tell we have cracked out the colours that compliments our tans?

This has been the first time in 3 years that our family have been abroad together. With work and other commitments getting in the way, it has always been in pairs and this moment had to be caught on camera.

We won't be leaving it this long again!

With that, there was a taxi beeping outside and it was time for Gareth to head on back to the UK a little earlier than us.
He had to get back to London for work commitments. So we gathered round, cracked out the sombreros and maracas again, said Adios Amigo and that we would have a drink for him tonight!

With a baby, great grand parents, and everyone in between, the final drinks are always a start to a good night of celebrating the guys finishing Ironman.

The guys talked about the moments they experienced, from punctures and the views from the mountains, to the feeling they had when they crossed the finish line and knew it was all over. The rest of us chipping in, telling them how exhausted we are from all the spectating we had done.

It doesn't go down well with them, but I insist we did enough milage that day too!

And every year, there is the mandatory finishers photo on the steps.

This never fails to happen, and this year is no exception.

Everyone had their phones and cameras out, and the guys were smiling left, right and centre with their finishers tops.

Say cheese!

Honestly, it is absolutely mind blowing how well these guys have done! They have trained all year round, through the wet and cold mornings to the summery (ish) evenings, all to accomplish what they did.

With the drinks all finished, we headed off for our final dinner and party until the sun comes up.

One last night spent in the Spanish sunshine and drinking sangria before I reluctantly get on the plane home this morning.

London, I'm coming home with a hangover and in need of some TLC!

¡Adios Lanzarote, it's been an amazing trip to remember!
